What Michael Says
This was my first Marvel project, that was pretty exciting. What really appealed to me was that they were making a film about a totally new character from the Marvel Universe. I had read Doctor Strange when I was young and had always been intrigued by the mystical journey he embarks on after experiencing a tragic accident. I was fortunate that Marvel gave me lots of leeway on how I wanted to create the score. In addition to exploring the magical aspect of the story, I really focused on who he was as a person, what he had lost and how that loss affected him. For me, it is a sad story, and much of the music has a very melancholy feel to it.
